‘Tis the season to be jolly, and thanks to these fun new Christmas tracks from Kelly Moneymaker, that should be easy this year. A US soul songwriter with a stunning voice, Moneymaker seems genetically inclined to sing in this genre. There’s a long tradition of Christmas blues tracks, all the way back to Elvis, and Moneymaker’s ‘Home For The Holidays’ continues that tradition with great aplomb.
You can hear the full track above, and if you like what you’re hearing you can get it now on iTunes. And as if that wasn’t enough, Kelly Moneymaker has also released a new version of ‘Jingle Bells’ – available here.

The Rebel Scientist is an independent songwriter who has cut his teeth in a different environment to many other songwriters in his genre. As a session guitarist, he has toured the world with huge stars and played some great venues, and has also performed on national TV and radio alongside those artists thanks to his renown within the industry.
However, his own independent songwriting is of a completely different scale. Writing under the Rebel Scientist pseudonym, you can only assume that this side project is one that allows him to chase his own creativity in between working bouts of working on other people’s songs. Whether this is 100% accurate is not altogether clear, but it’s the feeling that comes from this great 4 track pop EP.
The songs have a freedom and energy about them that suggest an artist freed from constraint. He’s taken what he’s learned from his top pop career, and twisted into this solid, well made piece of independent music. Creatively wide ranging, but also recogniseable and accessible, these four tracks show that The Rebel Scientist os more than capable of turning his guitarist hand to a different arena.
You can hear/buy the EP now on Spotify and iTunes.
