FREE DOWNLOAD SINGLE – Philip Murray Warson, ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’

An old folk classic, ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’ has stuck around for a reason. And from the very first moments of this new version by Philip Murray Warson you know you’re in safe hands. From the subtle opening guitar, to the warm harmonies and even the beautiful horn section, this is superbly built folk from the ground up.

You can download and keep a copy by clicking above (top right), and there’s plenty more of this beautifully lilting vocal in the full debut EP – out now on Bandcamp: http://philipmurraywarson.bandcamp.com/

New lyric video – Baron Goodlove: ‘Orpheus’

A debut single from a new singer songwriter, ‘Orpheus’ is out now from Baron Goodlove & The Dreadful Noise. Thankfully, the band name is inappropriate, as this is a very good curtain raiser indeed.

Really enjoyable in an offbeat-sort of way (you’re unlikely to dance around the room as you listen), the fun from this comes from the subversiveness. There’s a lack of melody which gives the vocal and lyrics space to so their thing, and it makes for an interesting effect.

‘Orpheus’ will also soon be found on an EP which is out soon. But if you want to sneak it into your collection before that, the band are offering it here for free:

The Brigantes Release Video and Give Away Track

Hailing from Halifax, West Yorkshire, The Brigantes are making waves with a rare groove that has come from a mixture of Reggee and Ska, which developed following an upbringing influenced by the various member’s parents love for those catchy genres. Add in a bit of Hip-Hop along with a Punk attitude, and it all makes for a heady brew that makes The Brigantes stand out from the usual Indie sound that is prevalent at the moment.

It is so refreshing to hear Ebonnie, 20 (Vocals, Guitar), Harrison, 19 (Vocals), Jordan, 18 (Bass) and Drew, 18 (Percussion), making a sound that makes you want to move your feet. Some locals have christened it ‘Halifax dance hall’.

Following a series of successful shows, including support slots for Dirty Revolution and The Booze and Blues Festival, The Brigantes have teamed up with the Arch-Way Project to record a performance video for the wonderfully infectious track Racket.

The Arch-Way Project (Halifax) provide a space, time and facilities to those in the community that could do with their help. Racket is available for free download here:
